<abstract>Catchments are elementary drainage areas. In this database a catchment has been consistently defined for nearly every edge found in the hydro network. Catchments store their individual drainage area, cumulative drainage area, the identifier of the junction serving as its outlet, the identifier of the next catchment downstream, and the identifier of the subwatershed to which it belongs to.</abstract>
<purpose>As elementary drainage areas, catchements identify the landbase immediately influencing a section of the network.</purpose>
<supplinf>Catchment (DrainID) relates to Subwatershed (HydroID) via an established relationship class (CatchmentHasSubwatershed). Catchement (JunctionID) relates to its outlet HydroJunction (HydroID) via an established relationship class (HydroJunctionHasCatchment). <procdesc>Catchments we created by using a stream link grid representing the HydroEdge feature class to define elementary drainage areas off of the the flow accumultion grid derived from a hydrologically correct DEM (5m, burnt streams, and fill sinks applied). ArcHydro Tools were used for the terrain and hydrologic processing. This method is an alternative to the traditional method of defining elementary drainage areas with a drainage area threshold and was used primarily to identify a catchment for nearly ever segment in HydroEdge. </procdesc>
